They solve different parts of the journey
A Google Business Profile is one of the most visible assets for a local company. It can surface your location or service area, reviews, opening information, photos, services and direct actions. Your website gives you much more control over how you explain the business, answer objections, present work and convert a visitor.
If you have no online presence at all
Do both in parallel if budget allows. A simple one-page website plus a properly configured Business Profile can be a stronger starting point than spending the full budget on a large website while leaving local discovery untouched.
What should be aligned?
- Business name and core contact details
- Main service categories and terminology
- Areas genuinely served
- Website landing pages linked from the profile where relevant
- Photos and brand presentation
- Review generation and response process
- Analytics and UTM tracking where useful
Do not build local visibility on fake location pages
Creating dozens of near-identical town pages is not a substitute for useful local content. Start with the places you genuinely serve and make each page useful enough to deserve to exist. Strong service explanations, proof, case studies and locally relevant detail are more sustainable than swapping town names in duplicated copy.
The FifteenFold approach
We treat the website and Google presence as one customer journey. The aim is not simply to make a profile “100% complete”. It is to help a real customer move from discovery to confidence to enquiry with as little friction as possible.
Apply the principle to your own business.
